TVN Housings

TVN
housings are one-piece plummer block housings with screwed covers. Developed
as axle boxes for light rail-bound trucks, they are also used as
conventional plummer blocks. TVN housings are made of gray cast iron.
TVN housings are designed to accommodate self-aligning bearings with
cylindrical bore. The bearings are mounted directly on stepped shafts.
Bearing seating is designed so that the outer ring is free to move axially
in both directions.
To locate the bearing a spacing washer or a locating ring is inserted at
one side of the bearing. For larger housings appropriate spacers are
required.
The housings are used for applications where "cross location" is
employed and no washers or locating rings are required. TVN housings have
two felt seals placed adjacent to each other at each side. For high
temperature applications the felt seals may be replaced by high temperature
sealing strips.
Load carrying ability
TVN housings are used for loads acting vertically towards the base plate.
The load carrying ability of the housing is limited by the incorporated
bearing. If their are loads acting in other directions the magnitude of the
load should be within the permissible limits for the housing and the
attachment bolts.
Lubrication
TVN housings require grease lubrication. The grease should be selected with
reference to the operating conditions.
