Bearing Storage

Proper storage of bearings is necessary to ensure a longer life while in use and more reliability. The improper storage causes damage to the bearing thus inducing early fatigue. Foreign matter introduced into the bearing due to careless handling and storage prior to installation or during repacking by mishandling of the bearing or grease or repacking wet bearings may cause the damage.

To avoid the damage due to improper storage before installation:

Avoid storing bearings high humidity areas. Store in cool dry place. Remove from wooden packing and store on shelf. Do not remove cardboard boxes or protective wrappings untill before installing. Do not stack bearings because the protective anti-rust compound may be squeezed out of bottom bearings.
