The
purpose of the bearing housing is to position the insert bearing, as well as
to support loads transferred from the shaft through the bearing. The
housings have a flat mounting surface. There are many types of different
housings available but one major criteria in all is the possibility of
relubrication. The ones that require relubrication is called relube type and
the ones that don't are called maintenance free.
